With regard to recent media enquiries, The Real Estate Developers Association of Hong Kong today (4 June 2013) made the following response:
Before the Residential Properties (First-hand Sales) Ordinance (“the Ordinance”) came into effect on 29 April 2013, saleable area shown in the sales brochures was calculated according to the definition as approved by the Lands Department.
The definition of saleable area has been revised under Section 8 of the Ordinance. The Sales of First-hand Residential Properties Authority further elaborated on the new definition and method of calculation through their FAQ issued on 11 April.
Under this new definition, saleable area as shown in some revised sales brochures may be different to that shown in the previous versions. The difference, if any, is the result of a change in the definition of saleable area.
